Summary
LetsStopAIDS is a Canadian youth-HIV charity that focuses on HIV prevention and knowledge exchange by engaging young people and fostering leadership. Since 2004, we have been creating a global network of youth-HIV leaders.
We’re looking for a creative and detail-oriented UI/UX Designer Co-op to join our Communications team and help bring visually engaging user experiences to life. You’ll work closely with the branding manager, the developer, and graphic designers to create low-fidelity sketches, mid-fidelity layouts, and polished, high-fidelity user interfaces. You’ll also contribute to UX research and user-centered design processes, helping to shape intuitive and impactful digital products from concept to execution.
Responsibilities
- Design and iterate on user interfaces at various fidelities using Figma.
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and interactive flows to visualize and communicate ideas effectively.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure accurate implementation and maintain design integrity.
- Conduct user interviews, usability testing, and competitive analysis to inform design decisions.
- Contribute to and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries for visual consistency and brand alignment.
- Stay current with UI/UX trends and emerging tools to push the boundaries of our product experience.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary program (preferably in Computer Science, Digital Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a similar program).
- A strong foundational understanding of user interface design principles, including layout, visual hierarchy, typography, color theory, and accessibility.
- Familiarity with Figma and preferably a portfolio with Figma.
- Demonstrated interest in problem-solving, design thinking, and creating aesthetically pleasing, user-friendly interfaces.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to explain design decisions and rationale clearly.
- Bonus: Exposure to user research methods and UX best practices.
- Bonus: Knowledge in HIV/AIDS and sexual health-related topics.

Dedication and Compensation: The position offered is for a full-time unpaid role based out of our Toronto office located at 160 John Street. The successful candidate will be required to work from our downtown Toronto office with the flexibility to work from home for up to three days a week. The candidate will be expected to fulfill their requirement for total co-op hours as per their college or university.
