Summary

LetsStopAIDS is a Canadian youth-HIV charity that focuses on HIV prevention and knowledge exchange by engaging young people and fostering leadership. Since 2004, we have been creating a global network of youth-HIV leaders.

We are currently seeking a motivated and creative Special Events Coordinator (Co-op) to join our Development Team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event planning, production, and fundraising. You will work closely with the Event Manager to help deliver one of our signature initiatives throughout the placement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and coordination of the charity’s events, from concept to execution
  • Assist in venue logistics, décor planning, and coordinating food, beverage, and flow of the event
  • Help manage relationships with vendors and performers, including booking and scheduling
  • Participate in meetings, brainstorming sessions, and regular check-ins with the Event Manager
  • Contribute to budget tracking and assist in organizing documentation related to the event
  • Provide support during live events, ensuring everything runs smoothly and on schedule

Qualifications

  • A current student or recent graduate in event planning, nonprofit management, hospitality, marketing, or a related field
  • Passionate about social causes and creating meaningful experiences
  • Strong organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • Comfortable working in both independent and team environments
  • Willing to learn, take initiative, and grow professionally through mentorship and practical experience
  • Some experience (volunteer or paid) in event coordination or logistics is an asset, but not required
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.); knowledge of event management tools is a bonus

Work Model

This position follows a hybrid model – a mix of remote and in-person work based in Toronto.
