Summary
LetsStopAIDS is a Canadian youth-HIV charity that focuses on HIV prevention and knowledge exchange by engaging young people and fostering leadership. Since 2004, we have been creating a global network of youth-HIV leaders.
We are seeking a Social Media Specialist who is both creatively driven and strategically minded, with a deep understanding of activism and how to translate it into powerful digital content. The ideal candidate is passionate about social justice, advocacy, and youth engagement—someone who can craft compelling content and foster meaningful connections across social platforms.
In this role, you will help shape LetsStopAIDS’ online presence, making our social channels a hub for HIV awareness, youth empowerment, and social action. Reporting to the Digital Content and Brand Manager, you’ll create and schedule content, support campaign rollouts, and use data-driven insights to grow our reach and impact. Your work will challenge stigma, inspire conversations, and help mobilize young people to take action.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute digital marketing strategies that integrate activism, ensuring LetsStopAIDS' campaigns inspire and engage young advocates.
- Craft compelling, action-driven content that resonates with youth audiences and drives meaningful conversations around HIV awareness and sexual health.
- Stay ahead of social justice trends and movements, ensuring our digital presence reflects the evolving landscape of youth activism.
- Develop impactful, youth-focused content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn.
- Leverage storytelling techniques to create graphics, videos, and copy that amplify our mission and vision
- Cultivate an active online community by engaging with followers, responding to comments, and leading real-time discussions on pressing social issues.
- Track campaign performance and optimize strategies using analytics tools like Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, and SEO platform.
- Identify and collaborate with youth influencers, activists, and ambassadors to expand the reach and impact of our campaigns
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in digital marketing with a strong focus on social impact, advocacy, or nonprofit work.
- Deep understanding of activism, youth movements, and how social media can drive real-world change.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, Google Ads, Google Tag Manager, SEO tools, and email marketing software (Mailchimp).
- Strong storytelling and writing skills, with experience crafting messaging that inspires action.
- Passion for youth empowerment, sexual health, and HIV awareness.
